The initial content available on the website of the Virginia General Assembly is clearly laid-out and visually simple. Links to the Capitol Classroom, the Citizen’s Guide, Meetings and Events, as well as a visible Help section make the available information easy to navigate. By visiting the Capitol Classroom, a visitor can read a brief history of the Virginia General Assembly, which states that the first assembly was convened in 1619. The overview explains how the 140 members of the Assembly are selected and categorized, and defines the role of the Speaker and the Lieutenant Governor. The Citizen’s Guide is a rather redundant page which recounts a brief history of the Virginia General Assembly, basically restating, in brief, information found in the Capitol Classroom using different words.
