Research Papers that Propose a Solution on DUI Statistics

Paper Masters writes research papers on social problems such as DUI statistics. Our writers can also propose solutions in a custom research paper that addresses the problem of too many DUI's. Below is an example of a college level research paper topic that asks the student to solve a problem. We have chosen to outline a proposal for the problem of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Your assignment may be to write an essay proposing a solution to a problem. Choose a problem faced by a community or group to which you belong, and address your proposal to one or more members of the group or to outsiders who might help solve the problem.

Your Topic of DUI Statistics

According to police web sites, most of the deadly DUI statistics came from 17-23 year olds. I would like to submit a paper on this type of subject. I not sure what I would propose as a solution though. Also MADD had some great information as well.
Please keep in mind that this is English 101.

Overview of DUI:

Drunk driving (DUI) kills thousands of people each year. It is estimated that approximately 30 percent of Americans will be in an accident involving alcohol (DUIFYI). In fact, in 2001 there was an estimated 17,448 alcohol related motor vehicle crashes. Furthermore, someone is injured in an alcohol-related accident every two minutes (DUIFYI). It stands to reason that with the increase in accidents and arrests due to drunk driving, that states would do more to adopt and adhere to stricter laws regarding DUI offenses.

The first thing states need to do is adopt stricter sentencing laws for drunk drivers. There were a total of 513,200 people incarcerated for drunk driving in 1997. Of those, only 11 percent were sentenced to jail time (State Legislature). Two-thirds of those incarcerated were repeat offenders and one third of those on probation had prior drunk driving offenses (State Legislature). In Arizona, the Tucson Police Department reported that arrests for driving under the influence rose 24 percent in 2002 (DUIFYI).
