In addition to the fact that MRI is expensive, the closed tube of the MRI can be somewhat daunting for the patient. Although open MRIs have been developed to overcome this problem, the results produced in these machines is often not as accurate as those produced from a closed MRI scan. Further, open MRI technology, because of its relative newness to the field can, in some cases, be even more expensive than traditional closed MRI scans.
