After high school graduation, students may elect to pursue a postsecondary education through a college, university or trade program. Education in America and Private schools

In the United States, public education is freely available to all students and funded by a combination of state and federal tax revenues. However, parents who do not want their children to attend public education have many other options. First, they may pay for their children to attend a private school. Some American private schools are religiously affiliated while others are secular. Parents may also send their children to a charter school. Some parents elect to educate their children at home through an accredited home schooling program.

Education in America is also compulsory for children. Depending upon state law, students are required to attend school up to the age of 18. The parents of students who fail to attend school may face legal punishments.
