Peter’s letter to Christians in his book touted his unwavering faith and called upon the people of God to also have strong, unwavering faith to get them through their struggles. Peter, in his writing, achieved the following:
- Peter encouraged Christians not to lose sight of what was possible with God on their side.
- Peter worked hard to remove any doubt Christians had and reminded them that with God, anything was possible.
- Peter indicates that Christians should simply hold on as they stand in the midst of any crisis because in the end, they would all have an opportunity to be with God in heaven.
Peter’s goal was to reassure God’s chosen people that they were all special and would have the ability to be in God’s presence for eternity. He reminded them that though Jesus Christ suffered at the hands of others, he never held it against those who caused his suffering, but instead simply trusted in God, his father. As such, Peter encouraged all Christians to do the same. He thought it fruitful if all followers of God used Jesus Christ as an example of how to live their own lives. Further, Peter communicates clearly that there is a huge possibility that as Christians, they will all endure some suffering. However, in suffering, he encouraged them to continue to embrace and love each other without conditions. Peter believed that he could encourage Christians to simply believe and trust in God more and as a result, their troubles would dissipate without doubt or worry.
