- Does Bilingual Education promote cultural and linguistic diversity?
- Does Bilingualism provide a fair and equitable learning environment for every American citizen?
- Does Bilingual Education further the isolation of ESL (English as second language) students, as bilingual teachers have found?

Bilingual Education and Politically Correct
The term “politically correct”, is one that has been used liberally over the course of the past decade or so. To be “politically correct” is to speak only in terms that are universally inoffensive. “Black” people became “African Americans”, “handicapped” people became “physically challenged”, and “poor” people became “underprivileged”. It seems that in not wanting to offend any individual or group, Americans have become so politically correct that one might say the use of politically correct terminology has, in itself, become a form of overt condescension. Bilingual education is just one glaring example of political correctness run amok, and part of a very dangerous trend among American politicians – that is, the inability to say “no” to a loud and potentially influential ethnic lobby, for fear of losing that section of the popular vote.
