Treatment of ADHD
Treatments associated with the management of Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) have been controversial in recent times. This controversy has been based on the fact that in the last decade the number of children diagnosed with this disorder has increased dramatically. Parents of these children are concerned with many aspects of the treatment, especially if they feel that the symptoms of this disorder are not improving. The purpose of this research paper is to examine the different types of treatment and their overall effectiveness in managing this disorder.
Basically, there are two types of treatment. The first involves the use of medications, and the second involves the use of behavioral therapy or behavior modification. Generally, medication is utilized in the treatment for several reasons. The research paper on treatment of ADHD illustrates that the most widely used medication is called Ritalin. The primary reason is that if the medication is effective, the child will experience improvement fairly quickly. He or she will seem less compulsive and less hyperactive behavior overall.
