Should We Higher the Standard of Education Research Papers

Topic for essay: Should We Higher the Standard of Education Research Paper?
For your second assignment, you will write an Exploratory Essay.
The concept of an exploratory essay is that you start without an end in mind. You don't necessarily know how you feel about a subject or what you want to say about the subject, you allow the research and your own direction to determine the outcome. This is writing to learn rather than writing to prove what you know.

Purpose of Should We Higher the Standard of Education Research Paper : The exploratory essay builds on the inquiry essay by having you look at and contribute to a range of arguments rather than just one at a time. Whereas the inquiry essay introduced you to a debate by looking at one argument a time, the exploratory essay asks you to widen your vision to the whole conversation.

Information on Should We Higher the Standard of Education Research Paper:

  • The focus of an exploratory essay is a question, rather than a thesis.
  • The two main ways to compose an exploratory essay yield different effects: The "in-process" strategy produces immediacy, while a "retrospective" strategy produces more artistically designed essays.
  • Exploratory essays chronicle your research actions and the thinking that results from those actions; they address both content-oriented questions and rhetorical questions about possible responses to the problem under consideration.
  • Exploratory essays regularly consider the strengths and weaknesses of various different solutions to a perplexing problem.
  • Exploratory essays are often dialectical in either the Platonic or Hegelian sense of that term because they recreate the engagement of antithetical positions, sometimes resulting in a productive synthesis of contraries.
  • The Exploratory Essay is a 4-5 pages, closed-form, thesis-seeking essay in which you explore—deeply—a topic of your choice. Rather than arguing a particular point of view, your objective in this assignment is to “wallow in complexity:” to research and analyze, to posit thesis, antithesis, and synthesis; to challenge the common ways of looking at a problem.

You’ll begin, as much good writing does, with a question. This question should be a topic of interest to you and something that can satisfy this assignment. Below are three topic question examples:

  1. Should violent video games be censored or banned?
  2. Should fast food companies be held legally accountable for the obesity and/or health problems of their consumers?
  3. Why do so many Americans fail to vote?

Once you’ve decided on a question, you’ll do research to come up with a (provisional, or temporary) answer. Then you will critique that answer—by reading against the grain, you will finding flaws in your original answer. Then you’ll ask another question—a more complex question, based on your research and your rejection of your previous answer. You will attempt to answer that question, debunk that answer, and so on. The purpose is not to find answers (or the answer), but to ask really good questions—and as a result, to probe a topic more deeply than you’ve ever done before.

The Exploratory Essay documents the evolution of your thinking on the subject. As the chapter says, the essay is “easy to organize because it follows a chronological structure—but you will have nothing to say—no process to report—unless you discover and examine your problem’s complexity.” So research, reflection, and good note-taking are crucial.
