Crime and Society Research Paper:

People get involved in crime because of their socioeconomic status combine with what is typical in an area. In a low income housing area many high school students sell drugs for money with a low chance of getting caught, children will grow up not respecting the law and will be more prone to committing these types of crimes. Many of the children who engage in this type of behavior are in “gangs”. In Durham, North Carolina there has been a gang epidemic. Why have these gangs become so prominent? Why are so many kids joining gangs and why does it seem so acceptable to them? What types of behavior is acceptable to gangs but inappropriate in society? If gang members are getting younger and younger and recruitment starts at a younger age, why is this happening? What is being done in prevention of these gangs corrupting our youth and society? What steps could be taken further to ensure the elimination of dangerous gangs?

The paper required for this course should be written according to the following guidelines:
