Don't miss the party just because of classes!
If you’re being diligent and sacrificing your summer for summer session classes you’re undoubtedly a bit disappointed. Friends are free, the family is taking a vacation and its beautiful outside. Sure you’re proud of yourself for getting ahead of the game but, you’re not a saint, and part of you is feeling truly sorry for yourself. Been there done that but, I learned several tips that can really salvage your summer and get you where you want to be academically. You can have summer fun, plenty of time and not waste a single day of the best years of your life.
Summer session classes are unique and provide a great opportunity to get ahead on your required credits. However, you don’t want to waste a single day of summer toiling in a classroom or working on a term paper when you’re young and very capable of a great time. So here are five tips that will guarantee that you have all the time you need for classes and summer fun.
- Recognize that your prof wants his/her summer too. So relax, do your best but don’t overdo it.
- Time management. Time management will allow you to enjoy the summer. For example, schedule your study time for mornings, say, between 9AM and 11AM. Prime-time tanning begins at 11AM either have your work done by 11AM or bring your books outside and get a great tan while studying.
- Get help! Part of time management is realizing what you have to do yourself and what you can get help with. Need to study for a test? Meet a friend in a park or at the beach for a picnic lunch and study together. Have a term paper due? Get a model term paper to work off of and have it take 30 minutes instead of days.
- Family want to take a vacation? So schedule it. Many prof’s understand that students will be gone in the summer, even if they are taking classes. They are human and they usually will give you the time away if you can reassure them you will keep up. Don’t miss that family vacation or party at the shore out of fear of asking!
- Use available resources. These days, with the internet containing a wealth of information, you can get ahead using study materials online. Interface with other students taking your same course via Twitter, Facebook or the 100’s of blogs that students and professors keep on every single course you can imagine.
With proper time management of your resources, you need not miss a minute of summer fun!
