Sample Outlines for Research Papers
Sample outlines for research papers are one of the best ways to begin your own research paper or term paper. You can find sample outlines for research papers in a number of places on the internet, in books or cliff notes and in text books. However, I would recommend making your own sample outline for a research paper. You say you can’t think of topics or how to organize it? It’s easy and I’ll tell you how.
First you need to find an article on your term paper topic that you can structure your own paper after. You can get the source/information for your outline from just about anywhere. The internet is a great place to start. I would recommend Wikipedia (Only for this…never as an academic source for reliable information) as a great source for structuring your own outline.
Take the article and look at the first sentence in every paragraph. In your word program, write down the topic of the first sentence in every paragraph. Just a word or two that describes what the first sentence is about. In just about every article or report, the first sentence of every paragraph is what is called a topic sentence. Therefore, you can use this as your main heading for each of the paragraphs in your own research paper outline.
For the subheadings, go back through each paragraph and find a few points in the paragraph that support the topic you chose from the first sentence. You will notice that this makes a nice, cohesive outline for you to follow for your own paper. Be very careful that you do not take information word for word from the source you choose. This is plagiarism and you will get caught!
