Engineering Students Benefit with a Marketable Degree

We have been examining what it takes to write a term paper for college classes that are targeted towards degrees that are highly Marketable. Last week we examined writing Nursing Research Papers. Today we will focus on the broad and lucrative field of engineering.

Due to the rapidly advancing technological environment of the 21st Century, the engineering student has the significant challenge of surviving in changing times. While continuing to remain in up-to-date is a desirable goal, prospering in such times of great technological change is an even greater challenge. The reality for the engineering student as he or she embraces the 21st century, is that the engineering world will require leaders who are far different from those of previous decades. In the past, engineers have traded off lower productivity for quality in the belief that to be responsive to market trends, high levels of quality had to be maintained. The problem with this philosophy is that quality not only drove up costs but also hid a multitude of other problems that adversely affect productivity needs.

Today, engineering management believes the opposite is true: to be truly responsive to productivity needs, an engineering student should focus on increased productivity, lower quality demands, and the ability to change over a technological schema in a moment’s notice. For instance, one goal of modern engineering is to incur low product costs while obtaining high quality. Another example is that, while there is the need for greater effectiveness and control, there is also the need to reduce bureaucracy. Finally, while engineering firms will increasingly seek entrepreneurial behavior on the part of its employees, it still seeks to reduce its exposure to risk of loosing much coveted staffing numbers in an era of shortage of human resources. Clearly there are many challenges that face student looking to get a foot in the door at engineering companies.

The engineering student must remember that the most significant problem in any organization is that of leadership. While economic cycles come and go, customer tastes change and technology improves, it is the student engineer and their ability to lead that can either make or break a company. It is, after all, the young engineers who determine what product is developed and it is management who determines the quality of the product or service by the decisions they make or fail to make. Engineering students begin to show their leadership abilities when they move their fuiture in a particular direction, they are able to convey their vision of the engineering’s mission and future, they motivate and even inspire their classmates and future employers with their shared vision. Engineerering student can have extremely positive or negative impacts on the future of technology.
