A while ago, we did a series of articles on the 5 most marketable degrees, according to an article in Encarta. We figured this would be helpful, especially in difficult economic times. However, in retrospect, it seems that even in the worst job market in 25 years, we were misguided. According to career specialists across the nation, marketability is not the key for success. What is? Doing what you love.

Career counselors that discussed hiring criteria with major employers found out that while resumes, education and grades are attractive, what employers really look for in college students is trust, clear thinking and the ability to show results on projects. An article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, cited a Human Resource Manager at Texas Health Resources, one of the region’s largest employers in Texas, as stating, “Do those results really support treating other people with courtesy, dignity and respect? And communicating clearly and earning people’s trust? And thinking before they act?”

In order to build trust, enjoy other people, communicate efficiently and have dignity and respect in your life, you have to love what you do. Your happiness is what drives results. Loving what you do is the only way to be good at what you do.

Marketable degrees are wonderful but if it is not what you love or want to do, forget it! If communications is your passion, look for a job in a marketable field such as engineering, in a communications sector of engineering companies such as human resources or technical writing. College students need to do what they love and earn their degree in what will fulfill them. That is a recipe for true life success.

We have been examining the hottest degrees in today’s colleges and universities. These are determined by how marketable the degree is in the job world today. Undisputedly, an Education Degree is one of the most sought after degrees in our nation. Schools across the globe are overcrowded and Education Majors have their pick of jobs. However, as an education major, you first must get that illusive degree and many education majors get stuck on the difficulty of some aspects of course material. The biggest hurdle education majors face is the ability to write an effective term paper. Term paper writing for education majors can be simplified with a few easy tips that we will clue you in on right here.

Education majors face a large amount of theoretical material in their classes. Thus, when it comes to term paper writing, term papers should be based upon theory and not so much on practical knowledge. Writing a term paper that is theoretically solid requires a few unique elements. First, the key to starting a theoretically based research paper is to have a strong thesis statement. Make your thesis statement grounded in one educational theory and then expand on that theory by how it applies to your topic. For example, say I am writing a paper on child development. My thesis statement would be something like this: Piaget’s theory of the preoperational stage of cognitive development explains early childhood learning through symbolic or representational knowledge acquisition.

Working off a strong thesis statement is the key to writing a good theoretically based term paper or research paper. Break your thesis statement down into parts and divide your paper accordingly and you will have terrific success in education courses.

With the market fluctuating wildly over the past year and economic worries on everyone’s mind, economics degrees are in demand at colleges and universities all across the nation. College students majoring in economics are experiencing high job placements and one article on MSN describes economics degrees as one of the top 5 most marketable degrees for college students today! Therefore, we are looking at term paper writing for marketable degrees such as nursing, engineering and economics. Today’s post will examine the elements of economics term papers and how they are uniquely definable by four major economic indicators.

To write a successful economics term paper, any initial examination of economics first takes into consideration the form and function of the financial, production, and consumptive entities within. What the economics term paper succeeds in accomplishing, is a distillation of those essential elements to effective economic prediction. In using economic indicators and statistics, it is possible to make an overall prediction about the course that the national economy will take by examining four key economics indicators.

The first indicator, the employment report, predicts the health of the economy by tracking the unemployment percentage alongside the number of new jobs created over the course of each month. A good economics term paper notes that when the jobs created number slips into negative numbers, or suffers from a long term decline, that a recession could be on the horizon. But, one cannot make such predictions based on a single factor. Next, an economics term paper should examine the consumer confidence index which measures consumer willingness to spend money rather than save. If the trends indicate that consumers are less confident and are increasingly holding their money, that too is an indicator of a possible future recession. Next, the term paper should examine the purchasing managers index which provides a composite indication of the overall manufacturing productivity levels. This too, when it goes down, can indicate a possible recession. Finally, any good economics term paper looks at the leading economic indicators. These are, essentially, many benchmarks rolled into one. These figures are released monthly and reflect 10 separate components. Again, when these demonstrate lower numbers, a recession is possible.

One has to agree, at least in the majority, with the idea that by examining a few “key” economic indicators, it is possible to get a feel for how our economy is doing. However, it is important to point out that simply examining any one of these indicators individually is insufficient as their fluctuations could be cause by any number of factors. Rather, it is definitely significant to look at these four factors like the current indicators on a river; the level of the river indicates speed, but not course, that is up to other factors. However, to examine each and to follow their trends makes complete sense in the attempt to predict or measure the relative economic health of the nation.

As an economics term paper examines the overall concepts of economy, it is important to look closely at those broad elements upon which the economy depends. Labor creates product, which generates income for the company and the workforce, which then spreads the income throughout the economy. As each one is relevant to the other, when one sector of the economy increases or decreases, such changes will have effect upon the others. We examine these economic elements so as to understand that the whole is made up of many smaller parts. What happens in a particular industry may have effects throughout the system. In a nutshell, we have provided students who are beginning their examination of economics with a simplistic but quite effective tool for understanding how particular elements of the economy are dependent upon each other and how to measure their possible effect.

We have been over viewing marketable degrees and how to write term papers for them. Today we will examine how to write term papers for computer science classes. Computer term papers are very different from a regular term paper in that they are far more technical and require significant background knowledge in left brained activities. Writing typically is not the forte of Computer Science Majors due to their highly analytical personalities. Paper Masters can help you dissect term paper writing and make it easy for any Computer Science Major, no matter how difficult creative and expressive writing may be for him or her.

Since computer science majors are very analytical, we will make term paper writing analytical also. A term paper is a formula of words that put together an idea. For example, let us say we need a term paper on network protocols. The thesis of the term paper can be put together in a simple equation. Network Protocols = (Protocol 1) + (Protocol 2) + (Protocol 3) / ideal protocol. It is that simple, list the network protocols and describe them. Then discuss them by what is the ideal protocol in various situations. You now have the layout of your paper in a simple equation.

Other ways of writing computer science term papers for the analytical mind include laying out a clear outline of what you want to discuss. For the above example, your outline would like the following:

I. Introduction

a. Interesting fact about protocols

b. List protocals

c. Thesis statement regarding best protocal

II. Protocol 1

a. Description

b. Uses

c. Benefits

III. Protocol 2

a. Description

b. Uses

c. Benefits

IV. Protocol 3

a. Description

b. Uses

c. Benefits

V. Best Practices for Protocols

a. Describe best practices

b. Describe best protocol

i. Why

ii. When

VI. Conclusion

And there you have it. It is really simple to write a technical term paper if you have a technical mind. Approach it as you do everything, analytically. Don’t stray from what you know and you will succeed. Computer Science degrees are one of the top 5 marketable degrees and highly sought after, even in this dismal economy. Don’t let a term paper trip you up! Either write the project in a manner you can excel at or get term paper help from an expert.

Engineering Students Benefit with a Marketable Degree

We have been examining what it takes to write a term paper for college classes that are targeted towards degrees that are highly Marketable. Last week we examined writing Nursing Research Papers. Today we will focus on the broad and lucrative field of engineering.

Due to the rapidly advancing technological environment of the 21st Century, the engineering student has the significant challenge of surviving in changing times. While continuing to remain in up-to-date is a desirable goal, prospering in such times of great technological change is an even greater challenge. The reality for the engineering student as he or she embraces the 21st century, is that the engineering world will require leaders who are far different from those of previous decades. In the past, engineers have traded off lower productivity for quality in the belief that to be responsive to market trends, high levels of quality had to be maintained. The problem with this philosophy is that quality not only drove up costs but also hid a multitude of other problems that adversely affect productivity needs.

Today, engineering management believes the opposite is true: to be truly responsive to productivity needs, an engineering student should focus on increased productivity, lower quality demands, and the ability to change over a technological schema in a moment’s notice. For instance, one goal of modern engineering is to incur low product costs while obtaining high quality. Another example is that, while there is the need for greater effectiveness and control, there is also the need to reduce bureaucracy. Finally, while engineering firms will increasingly seek entrepreneurial behavior on the part of its employees, it still seeks to reduce its exposure to risk of loosing much coveted staffing numbers in an era of shortage of human resources. Clearly there are many challenges that face student looking to get a foot in the door at engineering companies.

The engineering student must remember that the most significant problem in any organization is that of leadership. While economic cycles come and go, customer tastes change and technology improves, it is the student engineer and their ability to lead that can either make or break a company. It is, after all, the young engineers who determine what product is developed and it is management who determines the quality of the product or service by the decisions they make or fail to make. Engineering students begin to show their leadership abilities when they move their fuiture in a particular direction, they are able to convey their vision of the engineering’s mission and future, they motivate and even inspire their classmates and future employers with their shared vision. Engineerering student can have extremely positive or negative impacts on the future of technology.

A recent article in MSN Encarta listed the 5 most marketable degrees in the year 2009. The degrees that are highly marketable for college students today are as follows: Nursing, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics and Education. In a four part series, we will examine each of these fields and common issues addressed in writing term papers for each unique degree area. Today, we begin with the extremely equitable and marketable career choice of Nursing.

In the past two decades, reflective nursing practices such as term paper writing and research reports have moved to the forefront of professional nursing research and analysis. Studies site the increased acuity levels of patients, decreases in the length of hospitalization and the proliferation of health care technology and specialization as driving forces behind the need for highly educated nurses. On the other hand, other studies speak about the ever-changing demands of health care delivery that require practitioners who are able to utilize their knowledge to meet patient needs in a flexible and creative manner. Term papers are part of a reflective nursing practice that is required to develop the type of practitioner that is able to function effectively in today’s health care system.

Hence, reflection in term papers has become an important issue for the nursing profession and nursing education. Nurse practisioners who have skills in term paper writing are believed to have the intellectual capacity to formulate knowledge allowing them to better serve and care for their clients; offer and provide critically thoughtful approaches to nursing care in complex environments; and link theory to practice, which in turn, fosters an understanding of nursing.

In addition to the demand for nurse practitioners who are skilled in writing in the workplace, there has been a significant movement in nursing education away from teacher–centered learning toward a more learner-focused paradigm. Nursing education has experienced a significant shift in its approach to teaching. Within the last ten years, nursing curriculum has moved away from traditional didactic and positivist empirical approach to a more qualitative methodology based on questioning, critical inquiry, emancipatory philosophy and critical social theory. As a result of the demand for reflective practice and the change in nursing curricula, term paper writing has become a popularized pedagogical strategy used in nursing education.

Finding and developing methods that provide learners with the opportunity to reflect on their education through term paper writing has become an important consideration for nurse educators. Term paper writing is one such strategy that is believed to provide a format that promotes reflection and reflective practice in nurse learners. Therefore, term paper writing has become a significant part of nursing curriculum as a teaching and learning tool.
