The Apostle Paul in term papers has been referred to as one of the greatest influences on the Christian church after the death of Jesus. He was born around 3 A.D. in Tarsus, the capital city of the province of Cilicia. Because his family lived in a Roman society, he was also given the name of Paul.
Until Paul was five years old, he was educated by his mother. After this time, he received instruction from his father until the age of ten. After the age of ten, he was sent to Jerusalem where he attended the rabbinical school of Gamaliel. He was also well educated in the Greek language and culture. Paul excelled in his studies and demonstrated a love of the scriptures and of worship.
Paul returned to Tarsus when he was in his mid-twenties and entered his father’s business of tentmaking. During this time he earned the respect of others in the community. Although he believed in the written scriptures, he did not believe that Jesus was the Son of God. As did other Jews in his day, Paul believed that Jesus was an enemy of the true church and should be put to death.
